November 21, 2018Meet Africa’s youngest writer
Fun-loving, bubbly Stacey Fru is just 11 years old and she’s Africa’s youngest writer of chapter books. She chatted to The Big Issue about her young yet illustrious life.
Born in Johannesburg, Stacey is the second of four children. She completed her first book, Smelly Cats, just before her eighth birthday while in Grade 3. Her second book, Bob and the Snake, with a foreword written by Wits Vice-Chancellor Prof Adam Habib, was pre-launched at the university in August 2016. Stacey is also an award-winning dancer and a guitarist who loves to sing. She attends Sacred Heart College in Johannesburg, where she lives with her parents, siblings and Diamond, her dog.
