Overcoming Heights

On 2 March 2020, Tarryn Tomlinson, together with five others differently-abled individuals, joined to climb Kilimanjaro. By day three the group had reached base camp at 4 720m above sea level. They remained there for two days and after a total climb of five days, began their descent by vehicle. Tarryn says that although she thought about giving up, she kept going: Speaking to Daily Maverick, she commented, “Surrounded by snow and mountain peaks I felt overwhelmed with appreciation and pride. The beauty was incredible.”
