The drawing was always part of my childhood

I was fortunate to grow up in a creative family and was encouraged to paint, draw and make. When I was a child I was more carefree with my creativity: big brushes, bold colour, expressive colour, not trapped by perfectionism or self-imposed rules.

The Abyss 2016

I had a fantasy about being an artist in a studio

Painting with passion and freedom on huge canvases. When I was an angsty teenager I painted my tiny bedroom red, emptying it of everything other than an easel and a mattress. I painted with my mother’s semi-dried oil paints on masonite board, doing what I could to live out that dream.
