Among the devastation of the recent earthquake in Mexico, there seems to be very little for which to be thankful. But Frida, a rescue dog who works within the Mexican Navy dog unit, has become an inspirational fi gure thanks to her heroic rescue efforts in the aftermath of the natural disaster.
In a country still mourning deaths caused by the devastating earthquake on Tuesday, 22 September, Frida the Navy rescue dog has emerged as a source of inspiration and pride in the search for survivors.
Known for her custom-made doggy goggles and boots, the seven-year-old yellow Labrador has become a social media star, with her face tattooed on one man’s arm and as the unofficial motif of the 500-peso note.
