A wild imagination, passion for the environment and a background in electronic engineering have all led Thinus Booysen to designing Dropula, a revolutionary water-saving device.
Stellenbosch University lecturer Thinus Booysen studied engineering at North-West University. After qualifying, he started working for Sunspace, a provider of high performance small and medium-sized satellites and related systems, while simultaneously studying towards his master’s at Stellenbosch University.
In 2006, the designer moved to the UK with his wife, who was in the process of completing her PhD, during which time he worked for Rolls-Royce in the civil aerospace division. “I was the lead engineer on the Dreamliner Boeing 787’s jet engine controller,” explains Thinus.
