Meet Jean-marc Johannes, SAs most awarded skateboarder, a 31-year-old who matriculated from Windsor High school in Athlone.

Jean-marc began skateboarding when he was 10 years old, competing in and winning his first pro event at the age of 11. His skateboarding career has been included in the education curriculum in various schools of the Western Cape, and featured on international platforms such as Voice of America, CNN and BBC Sport.
ACHIEVEMENTS
Ranked Top 10 in South Africa at age 15, Jean-marc then received his first World Series invitation in 2016. He succeeded in winning South Africa’s first international skateboarding gold and went on to compete on the international circuit, achieving silver and bronze consecutively in Indonesia and China in 2018. Since then he has won the Global Digital Series in 2020 and broken seven skateboarding World Records to achieve a lifetime induction to the World Record Academy.
THIS YEAR
In 2022 he has been grateful to have been recognised as the Most Awarded Skateboarder in South Africa.
FUTURE PLANS
Jean-marc is preparing to represent SA in the International Professional Skateboarding Category in 2022; the next and upcoming Guinness World Record attempts; World Pro Tour skateboarding events and his anticipated official documentary video A Kid From Athlone is set to screen this month on various TV channels as well as via YouTube and Jean-marc’s social media platforms.
