Former private secretary to Nelson Mandela, television presenter and public speaker, Zelda la Grange calls on South Africans to be of service to people who are less fortunate than themselves.

Madiba made it clear that anyone, irrespective of who and what you represented in the past, would be welcome in the new South Africa if you commit and work towards an equal and just society after the birth of the new democracy.
With that he didn’t mean that we should remain in the rut of self-empowerment. He meant that we should each contribute in whatever way we can, to further the cause of a just society. But as he said, “freedom comes with responsibility”, and now more than ever we need to find the time, energy and resources to be of service to anyone who has less than we do.
