August 21, 2016The annual Open Book Festival, from 7-11 September in Cape Town, showcases the best of South African writing, holds great panel discussions for the exchange of ideas and aims to tickle the imagination.
The events are centred around the Fugard Theatre, The District 6 Museum Homecoming Centre, and The Book Lounge in Roeland Street.
This year’s festival has secured many exciting names, including Michela Wrong, author of the critically-acclaimed “It’s Our Turn to Eat, The Story of a Kenyan Whistle-Blower”, who will be one of the key speakers.
Also there will be a wide range of top South African authors, including Deon Meyer, Judge Denis Davis, Patrick Craven, Lauren Beukes, Justice Malala, Pumla Gqola, Don Pinnock, Jessica Pitchford, Adrian Basson, Sylvia Vollenhoven, Mark Gevisser and Lerato Tshabalala.
Also happening, on 10 and 11 September, the well-known Comics Fest with an incredible variety of artists and activities for all ages, with special guests such as Hippolyte.
