[dc]Fees Must Fall and other student protests have highlighted the need for a solution to the tertiary fees crisis.
A group of university graduates are tackling the problem head-on by looking at the funding environment within private companies and organisations.[/dc]
The team’s initiative, EduFunding, aims to centralise information on funding through bursaries, scholarships and affordable study loans from the private sector.
By going to www.edufunding.co.za, students can create a detailed profile, search for bursaries and scholarships according to chosen faculties/subjects, and easily submit their details to all available bursaries.
EduFunding also offers funders an end-to-end administration system for their funding opportunities. This aims to increase efficiency of bursary and scholarship offerings for funders, hopefully encouraging larger portions of CSI budgets to be allocated towards tertiary funding.
Administration modules include applicant filtering; selection and recruitment services; marketing tools; communication; applicant analytics and market insights; fund disbursement; and a mentorship programme to keep beneficiaries on track.
EduFunding is one of many products under the EduOne (www.eduone.co.za) name, which acts as a directory to online solutions to student problems.
