[dc]Some of South Africa’s best live acts will be heading for Breede River in January, for the Up the Creek 2017 festival, presented by Jägermeister.[/dc]
So far 11 acts have been confirmed: Dan Patlansky, The Black Cat Bones, Albert Frost, Rubber Duc, Ben Dey and the Concrete Lions, The Kiffness, Gerald Clark and the Deadmen, Medicine Boy, Taxi Violence, Jackal and the Wind and Jak Skandi. More band announcements are due in the next few weeks.
The waterside event will take place from Thursday January 26 to Sunday January 29, just outside Swellendam. In order to keep it as intimate and as enjoyable as ever, just 2 700 tickets are being made available for what has been described as the country’s ‘finest little festival’.
The festival, in which bands play to the crowd from the stage on the banks of the river, takes place in spectacular grounds offering a singular music and waterside experience. Revellers can spend their time swimming, partying, floating around on home-made craft and dancing.
The single tier ticket price is set at R970, which includes full access for the entire four-day weekend (no day passes and no under-18s). There will be the annual ‘Anything That Floats’ competition – with the most innovative craft taking home a prize. More details on www.upthecreek.co.za
The option of fully pitched tents and warm showers will be available for festivalgoers through The Heartbreak Motel.
