The royal wedding is over. The cake has been eaten and it’s hello to the new Duke and Duchess of Sussex. But amid the celebrations, a furore erupted when Windsor was announced as the venue for the event, and the town’s homeless population was caught in the middle.

Nobody anticipated a royal fight over homelessness, but the union of Prince Harry and Meghan Markel, brought the issue to the fore. Simon Dudley, leader of Windsor Council in the UK, requested that the Thames Valley crime commissioner intervene and demand officers use the power of the law to clear homeless people off the streets ahead of the royal wedding celebrations.
