SUPPORT OUR BIG ISSUE VENDORS
The Big Issue is South Africa’s number one magazine and social enterprise, creating opportunities to end poverty and exclusion. Our vendors are those people who’ve taken steps to help themselves. The Big Issue can be purchased from vendors in the suburbs of Cape Town, or from select Spar or Pick n Pay stores nationally.
Who:
Zuko Pholo, vendor number: 1930 Joined The Big Issue: in 2013. Been selling the magazine for nine years
Pitch:

Ideal job:

Hopes and dreams:
To get a code 14 driver’s license. To advance his studies. Zuko has a matric certificate and completed a First Aid level 1 course. He is appealing to his customers for sponsorship to advance his future studies. He would like to eventually do a paramedics course.

Sive Mondile, vendor number: 1917 Joined The Big Issue: in 2014. Been selling the magazine for eight years

Long beach road near the Long beach mall, Fish Hoek.

Ideal job:
Truck driver. Sive has a code 14 driver’s license.
Hopes and dreams:
Sive says that after he started selling The Big Issue, he grew the mindset of becoming an entrepreneur. He would like to gain different skills so that he can start a small business. He is interested in sewing and would like to enroll for sewing classes. He is appealing to his customers to help him start these classes. Sive says the pandemic has affected his Big Issue sales and hopes with the sewing skills it will increase his income.
