SUPPORT OUR BIG ISSUE VENDORS
The Big Issue is South Africa’s number one magazine and social enterprise, creating opportunities to end poverty and exclusion. Our vendors are those people who’ve taken steps to help themselves. The Big Issue can be purchased from vendors in the suburbs of Cape Town, or from select Spar or Pick n Pay stores nationally.
To donate a wish list item to our vendors, email placements@bigissue.org.za
Vendor: Akhona Silevu
Number: 1866
Find him at: Campground and Sandown Roads, Rondebosch.
Skills and experience: Akhona joined The Big Issue in 2010. He lives in Delft, has experience driving a Hyster forklift, and can operate machinery like milling, moulding and extruder machines. Hopes and dreams: Hyster driver or truck driver (for which he would need to obtain a truck driver’s licence) and to learn how to operate a crane machine.
WISH LIST: He would like to find a more stable job to support his four children. His 21-year-old son achieved a good matric pass three years ago, and Akhona is currently in need of assistance with financing his tertiary education so he is appealing to Big Issue readers to help him with this.
