In 2008, I was challenged by Cipla’s Miles for Smiles Foundation to ‘run a smile’ along the coastline
of South Africa. During the run, looking at the landscapes we were passing through, it hit me: if we don’t take extreme action to save the environment, there might not be any planet left for these kids to smile about.

This is where I came with the concept of Do One Thing (DOT). Two years later, I launched the campaign. The idea behind it was that our planet is just a dot in the universe; we are just dots on our planet, but, if we all just do one thing, then we can change the Earth’s destiny.

The recent Cape to Rio Row was the first expedition to raise awareness for the DOT Foundation. My aim was to inspire people to make a commitment to do one thing to protect and preserve planet Earth.
